About
The person you'd be talking to
I'm a psychotherapist working online, in English, with adults across Europe. I trained in Psychology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná in Brazil and I'm registered under CRP 08/49374.
Why I do this
What drew me in hasn't changed
I found my way to this work during my degree. There is something remarkable about being handed someone's history, sitting with the parts of it that still hurt, and then working alongside them to loosen the beliefs that have kept them where they are. What we build towards is a life that hangs together, one the person recognises as their own.
During my degree I spent a semester abroad, and it changed the direction the work took for me. Being the foreigner in the room, thinking and speaking in a second language, left me interested in how culture sits inside a person's difficulties: what counts as a problem, what can be said out loud, what a family expects and what it never says.
My main axis is cognitive behavioural. I work with Schema Therapy because it belongs to that tradition and then reaches past classical CBT, borrowing from other approaches to give a wider view of a case. That matters most when what someone brings isn't recent, but a pattern that has been running for a long time.
How I work
Listening first, tools second
I use tools from CBT and Schema Therapy, but I don't lead with them. Listening comes first, and so does understanding the case properly before deciding what to do about it.
Some tools suit some people and not others. When a technique isn't right for the person in front of me, we take a different route. What that looks like depends on the case, which is the honest answer even if it isn't the tidiest one.
Scope
What I don't work with
I don't work with couples or with children. My practice is with adults, one to one.
Beyond that, some things only become clear once we've talked. If what you're bringing sits outside what I can help you with, I'll tell you in the first session and, where I can, point you towards someone better suited. That's a normal outcome of a first session, not a failed one.
